Twisted Sisters by Kimber Leigh Wheaton

(The Orion Circle #2)
Publication date: October 25th 2015
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:

It’s a child’s toy—what could go wrong?

While playing with a spirit board, two sorority sisters summon the vindictive spirits of three women brutally murdered by a psychopath. Join Logan, Kacie, and the rest of the Orion Circle as they delve into the disturbing events of the past to find the key to freeing the spirits.

But this isn’t any ordinary haunting.  These ghosts were banished before, and now they have returned more powerful than anyone could have imagined. Anger breeds hatred and hatred leads to darkness—these phantoms are on the verge of losing their last spark of humanity and becoming completely lost to the shadows.

Can Logan and Kacie convince the tortured souls to embrace the light and move on, or will the spirits succumb to the hypnotic pull of evil, leading to an eternity of torment and suffering?

MAY CONTAIN SPOILER:

This is a perfectly paced, horrific and magical novel. This novel was wonderfully written, but has tons of gruesome parts.

This book is the second in the series. Kacie and Logan had a sweet two (2) months of a great relationship, but some not so smart sorority girls started playing with evil spirits. This time there are 3 that were all involved in a gruesome murder. Kacie really wants to help them forgive people so they can move on. However, the dead want revenge for being murdered. This assignment takes tons of guts and energy to accomplish.

My favorite character is Raven because she is intelligent and outgoing. Raven reminds me of myself in a lot of ways.

My favorite part is when Tracy and Kacie talk alone because Tracy is such a trickster, I love it!

This book was paced just right and it was so much fun to read. I wish there was more background information for Blake because he is so mysterious.

I recommend this book to horror book lovers.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 13 and up.

Tortured Souls by Kimber Leigh Wheaton

(The Orion Circle #1)

BLURB:

Sometimes Rest in Peace isn't an option...

Kacie Ramsey sees ghosts—and it's ruining her life. Her mother left, her father blames her, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't keep the ghosts away. Now a new power has emerged. Nightly visions of grisly murders and a relentless predator draw her to the brink of insanity.

When the phantom appears at a party, Kacie's longtime crush, Logan, saves her. He invites her to join the Orion Circle, a group of supernatural hunters with chapters in schools all over the country. Through the Circle, Kacie learns to embrace her spiritual powers, and for the first time in her life she feels in control rather than a victim.

But the Foxblood Demon will not give up so easily. A demented serial killer in life who trapped the souls of the thirteen children he murdered, imprisoning them within the walls of his mansion. Now in death, he plots his return while drawing power from the pure souls of the children. He recognizes something in Kacie he's never seen before—a medium powerful enough to provide a vessel for his tainted soul.

Kacie can't ignore the tortured souls of the children crying out to her every night. With Logan at her side, she will fight the Foxblood Demon. But can they banish this powerful phantom, or will Kacie lose not only her body, but her eternal soul to the monster?

MAY CONTAIN SPOILER:

This is a wonderful start to a series that I cannot wait to finish! This author's writing caught my attention with her fun and wild plot and her brilliant ideas.

This novel was about a girl with supernatural powers. Her name is Kacie and for awhile all she thought was that she was the only one that could see and talk to ghosts, however there are tons of them! When Kacie gets invited by her crush to join the Orion Circle, she is thrilled, but also petrified because she has went through a lot and after her mom left her because she thought Kacie was crazy, she doesn't know if she should tell another soul. Kacie soon discovers she can trust everybody from the Orion Circle, they all understand her. Just a couple of weeks pass before she has a huge assignment that includes: the FoxBlood Demon, 13 tortured souls that want to move on and horrible visions that almost possess her.

My favorite part is when Kacie frees the first ghost that has been tortured because of her mother. The ghost just wanted to be happy with her baby.

My favorite character is Daniel because he is funny and full of character. I like Daniel because he is himself in all situations and you can count on him when you need backup.

This book was a fast-paced book, but sometimes you want to scream because you want more descriptions in some parts. However the plot was amazingly written and it makes you ask for more. The characters are outstanding with just enough flaws and mistakes to make them human. I can't wait to read the whole series!

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 and up.
